Lazy Lion Books Presents


Basic Info:
All stories must be of the Horror genre. The contest is open to
primarily  new or unpublished authors who have not yet sold a novel or a total of three major magazine short story sales within the Horror genre by the date of their submission. Winners from other Lazy Lion writing contests are eligible, however entries must be stories not submitted to us in the past.

Awards:
First Prize
-- $25 cash prize and $25 Lazy Lion Used Book Certificate and FrightFest poster signed by all authors attending Fright Fest.
Second Prize -- $10 cash prize and $15 Lazy Lion Used Book Certificate.
Third Prize -- $10 Lazy Lion Used Book Certificate.

All stories are eligible for publication here on lazylionbooks.com.

Entry Fee:
Nothing. Zilch. Nada.
Enter as many stories as you like, but all stories must be entered separately.

Submittal:
Each short story entered must meet all of the following requirements:
Length
-- Maximum 500 Words. (Yep. SHORT short story. Sometimes called 'flash fiction') This equals about 2 typed single-sided pages double-spaced.)
Typed -- Entries must be typed.
Cover/Title Page -- Must include your name, address, phone number, story title, and length. Add e-mail address if available.
Clear Copies -- Do not submit originals. Stories  will not be returned.
Deadline -- Stories must be
received on or before Noon October 22, 2005. Electronic format is preferred. (Microsoft Word or standard text format)

Disqualification:
A short story will be disqualified if in the judgment of the nominating committee the entry falls into any one or more of the following categories:
- Story fails to meet all of the contest submittal requirements.
- Story has been published and/or author has received payment for the story before the contest deadline.

Story is considered to be outside of the Horror genre.

Story contains sex for the purpose of arousal only.
-
Story contains harsh or foul language for the purpose of shock only.

Judging:
Stories will be judged by  the owners of Lazy Lion Books and attending authors. The decision of the judges is final.

Notification:
Prizes
will be awarded by Lazy Lion Books in accordance with the decision of the judges. Contest winners will be notified via phone, letter, or email, or in-person if contestant is in the store when announcement is made.
